From the barangay table to your smartphone screen, Tongits has always been the heartbeat of Filipino card gaming. At 4jl, we bring you the full Tongits Go experience — fast, fair, and built for Pinoy players.
Tongits — or Tong-its — is a three-player card game that originated in the northern Philippines and quickly spread to every corner of the country. You'll find it being played in Tondo, in the back alleys of Divisoria, at family reunions in Cebu, and on lazy Sunday afternoons in Davao. It's as Filipino as adobo and jeepneys.
The game uses a standard 52-card deck. Each player is dealt 12 cards (the dealer gets 13), and the goal is to form valid card combinations — called melds — and reduce your hand's total point value as quickly as possible. A player wins by going out (emptying their hand), calling a draw, or having the lowest point count when the deck runs out.
At 4jl, Tongits Go is available around the clock with real-money tables starting at just ₱50. Whether you're a seasoned Tongits veteran from Quezon City or a first-timer looking to learn, 4jl's platform makes it easy to jump in and start playing.
New to the game? Here's everything you need to know to get started.
The dealer receives 13 cards; the other two players each receive 12. The remaining cards form the draw pile in the center of the table.
On your turn, draw the top card from the pile or pick up the last discarded card. Then discard one card face-up. Build melds to reduce your hand value.
Place valid sets (three or more cards of the same rank) or runs (three or more consecutive cards of the same suit) face-up on the table to reduce your points.
Go out by emptying your hand, call a draw if you feel confident, or survive until the deck runs out. Lowest point total wins the pot.
Understanding card values is the foundation of a solid Tongits strategy. Every unmelded card in your hand contributes to your point total — the lower, the better.
Worth 1 point. The lowest-value card in Tongits — always useful for keeping your hand count down.
Worth their face value (2 = 2 pts, 3 = 3 pts, and so on up to 9). Mid-range cards are the backbone of most runs.
Worth 10 points. High value — meld it quickly or discard it early if it doesn't fit your hand.
Each worth 10 points. Three face cards of the same rank form a powerful set. Holding unmelded face cards late in the game is risky.
Two types of melds are valid in Tongits. Mastering both gives you the flexibility to adapt to any hand you're dealt.
Three or more cards of the same rank, regardless of suit. Example: 7♠ 7♥ 7♦. Four-of-a-kind sets are especially powerful and clear 40 points from your hand instantly.
Three or more consecutive cards of the same suit. Example: 4♣ 5♣ 6♣. Longer runs clear more points and are harder for opponents to block.
Add cards to an opponent's or your own existing meld on the table. A key tactical move — it clears cards from your hand without needing a full new meld.
Tongits is a game of skill as much as luck. The best players at 4jl consistently apply these principles to stay ahead of the table.
Don't hold melds in your hand waiting for the perfect moment. Lay them down as soon as they're valid — every card on the table is a point you can't lose.
The discard pile tells you what your opponents are building. If you see multiple cards of the same rank discarded, that rank is likely safe to hold. If a suit sequence is forming, guard your matching cards.
Face cards and tens that don't fit any meld are dead weight. Get rid of them early before an opponent calls a draw and catches you holding 30+ points of unmelded cards.
Extending an opponent's meld via Sapaw is one of the most underused moves in Tongits. It clears your hand without giving opponents information about what you're building.
If your hand count is low and the deck is thinning, calling a draw can lock in a win before opponents have a chance to improve. Don't wait for a perfect hand — a low count beats a slow Tongits.

There's something deeply personal about Tongits for most Filipinos. It's the game your lolo taught you on a rainy afternoon. It's the reason the neighborhood gets loud on a Saturday night. It's the card game that needs no introduction in any Filipino household from Batanes to Tawi-Tawi. At 4jl, we understand that history — and we've built our Tongits Go platform to honor it.
4jl's Tongits Go brings the authentic feel of the game to your mobile phone or desktop browser. What sets 4jl apart from other online Tongits platforms is the combination of fairness, speed, and Filipino-first design. Payouts are processed quickly, usually within minutes, directly to your GCash wallet or Philippine bank account.
The 4jl Tongits Go lobby is active around the clock. During peak hours — typically evenings and weekends — you'll find dozens of tables running simultaneously across all stake levels.
